Texas Holdem Poker hands – explanation and order of Poker hands
Here you’ll find detailed descriptions and explanations about the order
of all possible Poker hands:
Royal Flush:
The best Poker hand is a Royal Flush. A Royal Flush consists of five suited
and sequenced Poker cards at which the highest card must be an ace. Example
of a Royal Flush:
10, jack, queen, king, ace – all suited
Straight Flush:
to be suited as well. A Straight Flush is a combination of a Flush and
a Straight. If two or more players have a Flush, the one with the highest
Flush wins. Expample of a Straight Flush:
5, 6, 7, 8, 9 all suited
Poker (Vierling, four of a kind):
A Poker or also called „four of a kind“ consists of four cards of the same
value. If there is more than one player with a Poker, the one with the higher
Poker wins. Example of a Poker:
queen, queen, queen, queen, 8
Full House:
A Full House consists of a “three of a kind” (three cards of the same value)
and a pair (two cards of the same value). If there is more than one player
with a full house, the Poker player with the Full House consisting of the
higher “three of a kind” wins. Example of a Full House:
king, king, king, 3, 3
Flush:
A Flush consists of five suited Poker cards. If there is more than one
Flush the one with the highest card wins. Example for a Flush:
2, 5, 8, queen, ace all suited
Straight:
A straight consists of five consecutive cards at which the colour of the
Poker cards do not matter. Example of a straight:
6, 7, 8, 9, 10 (not suited)
three of a kind:
A „three of a kind“ consists of three cards of the same value. If there
are more than one “three of a kind” the Poker player with the highest one
wins. Example of a „three of a kind“:
2, 2, 2, 9, jack
two pairs:
Your Poker hand consists of two different pairs. If there is another player
with two pairs the Poker player with the higher pair wins. If also the higher
pair is the same, the second pair decides the winner. Example for two pairs:
5, 5, 10, 10, 9
one pair:
One pair consists of two cards of the same value. If there are more players
with a pair at their Poker hand, the higher pair wins. Example for a pair:
6, 6, 3, jack, ace
High Card:
If there is no Poker player with one of the Poker hands descriped above,
the player with the single highest card wins the game.(high card) Example
for high card:
3, 5, 7, jack, king (king is the high card)
